  • Almost %100 of all Prozac users suffer from some form of depression. Thoughts of death and killing are common for people with depression. Depression was a massive problem in our society before antidepressants. It was taboo to talk about it, and when it was talked about they used different names such as melancholia. The link you make with Prosaic and suicide indentation is co-incidental.

  • @PhilipMitchellGraham

if it's coincidental then how come even the manufacturers state that thoughts of suicide is a potential side-effect on the patient information slip?

  • @PhilipMitchellGraham I was on many SSRI's over 10 years. I told each doctor SSRI's did nothing, that I had anxiety, not depression, and only klonopin worked. My new GP said "Try Prozac!" I took it for two weeks. I became incredibly paranoid. I had a birthday dinner and I was so worried the people wouldn't like the food - the anguish was excruciating. Then one night I went to a friend's house and tried to break in to get his gun. I couldn't, so I slit my wrists and took 100mg of Klonopin.

  • Were Moses to go up to Mt.Sinai today, the two tablets he'd bring down with him would be aspirin and Prozac!

  • @CCHRLondon that is a bit crazy isn't it? and doesnt make any fucking sense whatsoever.. if u got problems, mental emotional, DRUGS ARE NOT THE SOLUTION! maybe like weed once in a while haha would do the trick.. but these psychoshitfacegay drugs are not! nuff said

  • Remember, as tragic as this is, it is NOT speaking for everyone who uses these drugs. It is possible, but if the boy had suicidal thoughts before he took the Prozac, and it was only 2 weeks after taking it, can you really put the blame on the drug? And to the person who says "I'd rather treat depression natural" is dumb because natural is not always better. The earth sprouts poison too, ya know. I for one ate healthy and exercised and I still felt horrible.

  • @PhilipMitchellGraham Genius! Depression was not even a common problem before the arrival of antidepressants twenty years ago. One in five hundred users of prozac are estimated to be afflicted with obsessive thoughts of death and killing. Between '95 & '99 antidepressant use in children under 6 increased by 600%. It's not even effective for more than 50% of users. There is no research that goes beyond 4-6 week trials. Long term permanent sexual dysfunction in about 98% of 54m ppl!! Etc Etc

  • I feel sorry for her loss but 'low self esteem?' You take this stuff if you're in bad way emotionally, depressed/suicidal. Can't say I like this drug to be honest, I'd rather not.

  • Would you guess that a person is diabetic then give them insulin? Then when they tell you they feel sick you tell them to add more insulin and addon some oral diabetic meds? Then the person dies from insulin shock and you say that diabetics have an increased risk of premature death and it had nothing to do with the insulin? This is what they are doing with these SSRI They need to have a test and prove what a chemical balance is before trying to correct supposed imbalances in delicate brains.
