Mayday, We have an open door!

Okay, you wouldn't call a mayday for that (all you professional pilots out there) :P.. but its a catchy title.

This is footage of my flight on 3/15/08 around Saint Paul (Landed at Saintpaul Airfield and Lake Elmo), and during my first takeoff we had to abort.. because I didn't close the door hard enough!

A open door is not an emergency, it is merely a slight annoyance (unless you can't hear the radio, but just turn your volume and squelch up). Wouldn't do it again but I flew an entire CC for my PPL with the door open, cold as piss, but everyone’s a dumb student at some point lol!

My door opend in a cirrus sr20 while we where taking of. But I saw it just before we lifted up so we aborted the takeoff.

It's not the door you need to worry about. Always make sure your seat is locked into position. Departure can be interesting from the backseat. :)

my instructor let me fly my first ride although I had loads of simulator time so it was not hard

That's a very strange but unique setup for the joystick. I've never seen it before, but it looks very interesting. It would've been nice if you filmed more of the cockpit and outside and less of yourself haha
