I wouldn't think so.

Assuming it's 1/4" cable, the momentum in it wouldn't be much compared to the car on the end. Perhaps you'd get hurt in a jiffy if you happened to get hit by the cable within a few feet of the car, but the man on the pole would probably just be wrapped up pretty good. Either way, I'd want to be sure I wasn't close enough to be near the cable - if the engine grenaded, flying bits-o-metal would be my concern...

It's not me - someone sent that to me sometime a couple years back, and I decided to post it on Youtube because I'd never seen circular-run control-line cars before. Judging by the tone, I'd say it's somewhere in the lines of a .40 - .50 2 stroke w/ quite a pipe on it.
