  • Wow 1980 fast forward to 2009..Magazine are F@###ing BRILLIANT...sad that John McGeogh isnt around to complete the ultimate reunion..Noko does a great fill in..John Doyle's drumming is superb..Dave Formula keys are great and Barry Adamson's bass playing is ENORMOUS..for me Magazine are like astronauts on a mission to the edge of the universe still on track..still on song.yes aged & hairless (in parts hehe).but.still cutting it unlike other doddery reunions i've seen. EXCELLENT post thanx

  • @newellgirl I couldn't agree more! Thanks for the comments. Magazine have been my favourite band since I was 11. Too young to see them in the early days, I caught them at 4 of their reunion gigs in 2009. They didn't disappoint. A truly special band. I heard a rumour that they are back in the recording studio. I hope it's true, another tour would be most welcome! And its true MISTER Barry Adamson is a God - but then, they all are, and Noko does a magnificient stand in for the great John McGeogh!

  • ive always loved this version,i remember playing it to death, the b side of sweetheart contract,at the russel club, mcr.

  • Just on John McGeoch he would have to be the most underrated rock guitarist,,playing on legendary cuts by Magazine, Visage, Siouxsie, PIL..forget Eric Clapton or Steve Stevens..John McGeoch continued Manchester's tradition of producing guitar genius aka Johnny Marr,Noel Gallager..love John McG's playing on the PIL cut "Seattle"

  • @newellgirl McGeoch is as Manc as me! He was born in Greenock. Great guitarist as was Johnny Marr but Noel Gallagher-even he knows he's not that good.

  • Feed the NME... hehehe...

Magazine 'eh? Damn me, that "No Myself" just blew me away... wonderful stuff.

  • Can I buy the whole gig on dvd or cd please?

  • @newellgirl Fine words by the American lady. x

  • @theoriginalmilo i was lucky enough to be at the legendary Sept 6 1980 Festival Hall gig Melbourne, Australia which became the "Play" Lp I remember Barry Adamson's bass as i turned up a little late after they began. You could feel Adamson's bass outside shaking the pavement. I loved John Doyles minimal style & Devoto had this huge presence. They supported XTC that nite and they did 2 encores and blew XTC off the stage that. They amazed the audience by their sheer musical talent. Thanks for post.

  • Fab song but they always play it too fast live, I prefer the tempo of the original recording on Secondhand Daylight, far more sexy
