If you dig 1911-style pistols and you want a lot for your money, consider the excellent Charles Daly Field 1911, Model EFS, in caliber .45 ACP. It's made in the Philippines on CNC machinery by Armscorp and imported by KBI Corp. of Harrisburg, PA (subject to change of course) under the umbrella importation name of Charles Daly. Here is a traditionally styled 1911 that has a host of great features for under $500 which is remarkable. CD offers other models as well. This model is the full-sized steel framed 1911-A1 EFS version. It competes directly with another high value offering, the also excellent Taurus 1911B-BHW (maybe reviewed by Nutnfancy in the future). This EFS is a handsome, traditionally styled 1911 that shows good to excellent overall workmanship, tight tolerances, and attention to detail. As is becoming the 1911 standard, it includes many formerly-custom features to include: an extended hi-rise beavertail grip safety, skeletonized steel combat trigger, combat hammer, beveled magazine well, flared and lowered ejection port, dovetailed front and rear sights and hand checkered double diamond hardwood grips. Also it has snag-free low profile sights (similar to Novaks), an ambidextrous safety and an extended slide release. The trigger pull seemed crisp. Two MecGar high quality magazines are supplied with each 1911 pistol, along with a lockable high impact carrying case. All reports indicate this is a very reliable and accurate 1911... all shots generally under 3" at 25 yrds. Upsides to this offering are its incredible value, plethora of features, reliability, accuracy, looks, and MecGar 8 round mags which are excellent. Downsides are ones I feel are inherent in many 1911 designs: extremely heavy at 38.5oz, very limited firepower for that weight (8rds vs 13 for Glock 21), necessity for Condition One carry, no Picatinny Rail for light mounts, and the unneeded grip safety. Honestly a Glock or Sig is a far superior design in aspects of firepower and weight (but not trigger). Nevertheless the 1911 thrives even to this day because, when modified like this, it shoots a big bullet with speed and accuracy. Many shooters dig the 1911 because they can just put more rounds on target compared to how they shoot other guns. And making your rounds count and connect where they need to go is job one... really all considerations pale in comparison. If it takes a 1911 for you do that, then this Charles Daly 1911 EFS is an outstanding choice.

Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 6 out of 10

  • How about us Americans do some more buying of "Made in thee good ol' USA "? If Kel-Tec can put out great products at an affordable price, made in the USA,so can other USA companies who send their work overseas, like Springfield "made in Croatia". To me this is treason. How come are servicemen use Beretta, does the Italian armed forces use any of our firearms? Our Economy is down the shitter with the possibility of a colapse, and we buy foriegn hand guns for our military? This shit has got to stop !

  • @demmylowther

because the things made in the good ole USA are crap dude. The problem isnt people buying overseas, it's the fools we put in charge. When you and the rest of the sheep stop voting for these tools we'll finally stand a chance of imporving our great country.

Dont like my comment? tough shit I'm a vet and imo that means I get to say what I want :)

  • got one in stainless, or maybe its hard chrome it doesn't say *Philippines* but its a great high value pistol and very accurate, not a fan of "made in the Philippians" stamp on it but hey it works

  • @demmylowther I love beretta.

  • @campusprowl oh i can't bacause its glued forever to my hands n tech-nueves n deagles are fucking practical n they are not different cause they both pistols bro

  • You should stop using the term "weapon" when you refer to a pistol or any other firearm, for that matter... It implies intended use and carries a negative connotation. It is only a weapon when used as one. Not when it is sitting in your hand or on a table.

  • @captainprice4827 put down the x box controller. deagle and tec-9?! what the hell is the matter with you? those are completely different firearms, and both are not at all practical. there is a reason why the 1911 is 'old' but it is still being used by people...its a great gun! its a time proven platform and the most widely cloned firearm out there, 100 years strong. lets see the tec-9 boast any of those claims....goober

  • add me!

  • @wwclay86 yah but the deagle is still pree cool n the tec9 is like the ak47 of the ghettos

  • Nope the quit making them sometime ago. I took mine to today and shot it for the first time in months. Shoots like it is brand new. Of course it almost is~! Never have had one jam yet and with the full length recoil guide rod and shock buff, it tightened up the group considerable. No, it is not a Kimber, but it almost shoots as good as one and half the price. Nope it is not for sale, so forget it~!

  • @captainprice4827 the desert eagle. is a gun that is way to big for serious tactical use. swing weight size and other factors make it unsuitable for combat. the tec-9 is unsafe- especally if not maintained properly- notice they arent prodeuced anymore.

  • This is my full size carry. In fact, this is the first firearm that I cut my teeth on in the U.S. Army. Of course it was a Colt, but the 45 acp is what other guns and calibers are judged from...Charles Daly 45acp is very accurate and I have experienced no jams at all. ball, as well as hollow point. Only thing I added was a full length recoil guide rod.
