Many people, myself included, say there is nothing to see in North Dakota. That may be true in some areas some of the time. During the summer when the fields are about ready for harvesting, it can be very beautiful. You just have to open your eyes and look. These pictures were taken from the car while driving on I-94 heading west to Montana, and a few on our return. Sunrise in Bismarck on our way there and the sunset on our way back home. 5 or so pictures are from the Painted Canyon Overlook at Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Song is Tom Petty's 'Into the Great Wide Open' which definitely describes North Dakota :)

  • @RedceLL1978 Cheers to you, too! *hic*

  • I did this same drive last August.. from Grand Forks, ND west to Bozeman, MT. It was the most scenic drive I have ever experienced in my life, especially the Badlands. Awesome! (perfect song too btw)

  • @BrAdaMSU Thanks! That's about the same time these pictures were taken. Makes you appreciate the time that is taken to farm these lands and the beauty of the wide open spaces.

  • Go during Harvest and see the custom harvesters, I was one for a yr, 1 field to the next 5am-7-10pm 6 days a week and 5-2or 3pm on Sun pretty awesome seeing 4-8 combines staggered running down a stip and between them taking 100 yards at a time, or mid-summer when all the sunflowers are open, it looks like hugh fields of dandillions and so bright yellow very beautiful! Theres always a breeze from it being so flat, never humid and the air smells soooo fresh, and the northerns and walleyes ohh my!!

  • I was born and raised in ND, mainly around Jamestown, right on 94 about a 1/3rd way in from the east side, or the flat side, LOL. The Pics of the rough hilly land is the west 1/3rd also known as the badlands, I've lived in Iowa for alot of years now and always miss ND, I'd go home in a minute but can't as I refuse to leave my kids side, 1 day after the last 1 graduates I'm going home!!! Thanks for the pics and memorys

  • Very cool loved it and thanks for putting it together. I enjoyed

  • @9501dannyboy

Try hopping on a Highway 200 from Halstad Minnesota to Fairview Montana on a late summer or early fall day to catch the best of ND.

  • @9501dannyboy or sleeping in the passenger seat!! That's usually how I feel anyway, but sometimes you have to see the beauty that is out there! :)

  • @mickey2615 Thanks. Everything is beautiful....we just need to be able to see it. Sometimes we just need a little reminder :)
