Cracking the Maya Code: The story behind the centuries-long decipherment of ancient Maya hieroglyphs Part 5
The ancient Maya civilization of Central America left behind an intricate and mysterious hieroglyphic script, carved on monuments, painted on pottery, and drawn in handmade bark-paper books. For centuries, scholars considered it too complex ever to understand—until recently, when an ingenious series of breakthroughs finally cracked the code and unleashed a torrent of new insights into the Mayas' turbulent past. For the first time, NOVA presents the epic inside story of how the decoding was done—traveling to the remote jungles of southern Mexico and Central America to investigate how the code was broken and what Maya writings now reveal.

@666Desolate999 i think it's kinda ironic, but i don't see it as a tragedy at all. mayans finally have the oportunity to learn their ancient writing system and i think that's amazing! doesn't matter what happened before, that's in the past, dude.

I think yes, like Aymaran the language is great for the creation of nelogisms and slang. Very flexible and creative.
Makes me wonder about the Sapir Whorf hypothesis.
Why with such a language and world view were they so into genocide and war ?

could the flexible nature of their symbols be the equivalent of slang?
