Your Amberola plays very well. Of all the phonographs and talking machines I have, the Amberola remains my favorite and is the one I play for my own entertainment--several times a week. Thank you for this video.

I've never heard this rendition of "The Red Rose Rag." I've had the Victor rendition by Billy Murray and the American Quartet for many years. I hope you will upload the entire cylinder soon! One minute of the song is not enough!

Wonderful! Like the day it was made - Good to hear "original" ragtime played the way it was at the time........

It's a 1-minute test only. In this version, the tune is part of a ca. 4-minute Ragtime medley. Check out "Grizzly Bear Rag", which I posted a few days ago. It's comparably good.

I have an edison 2-4 minute convertible phonograph from 1907. At the moment I'm only using it to play 2 minute cylinders, because in my opinion, they're better. However, I really think that the sound quality on yours is excellent. Maybe one day, I will have an Amberola of my own...

4-minute Blue Amberol cylinders sound quite acceptable on a Standard machine with a 4-minute adjustment, but on Amberolas they sound far superior to most 2-min. wax cylinders (remember soundbox and stylus are designed exclusively for 4-minute, while the H-Soundbox for the Standard phonograph is kind of makeshift only).
