In my own way, I'm retracing the steps that led to my disavowal of religion. This video is where my very first hint of suspicion toward religion first surfaced, I believe, when my mother squandered money we really couldn't afford to lose on TV evangelists and other "programs" and "missions" she liked around the globe. She jumped from church to church in our town and county, though she technically remained a member of First Methodist (later First United Methodist) Church. Being just a kid, I was dragged along, and for the most part I liked it (traveling and observing new people and places) and got as involved as I could, though my strangeness and uneasiness with life always set me apart and kept me an unwilling loner through it all.

  • My mother is very abusive and takes all of her stress and angry out on my brother,me and her boyfriend. I got hit a lot as a kid for stupid reason and to this day im ashamed, embarrassed , and disappointed of my mom. I did have a good father though and friends but my father had another family and my friends had their own things to do but without them i just couldnt live anymore. If your parents r around talk to them n dont be scared to mention sumthings but i understand the loneliness it suck.

  • @realphukka I'm sorry about your mom's abusiveness. I hope things get better. My parents died long ago, though, but I go to the cemetery every summer and have lunch and reflect on them.

  • Mike I thinkI understand what your saying and Im kind of going through the same thing you were going through. My mother n grandma are like the way you're describing your mother. My grandma is was never a good mother to my father and his siblings n now that shes getting old she got religion all of a sudden.I think whats going on is well, the way I see its that they are scared of not going to heaven because of the way they treat their kids and think maybe by worshiping God its their ticktet 2 heaven.

  • @realphukka Yes, the new modern christians have abandoned all pretense at behaving properly because they have had the lie drummed into them for decades now that you can act any way you want simply because you are a follower of the modern cult of christ. Every time I see that bumper sticker "I'm not perfect, just forgiven" it drives the point home. The new christians are not concerned with their behavior in the least.

  • Mike, your vids are always interesting. It sucks to have to grow up being afraid of your mom. That's the one person in the world who is supposed to love and protect you unconditionally.
