There are 50 Golden Film Reels in L.A. Noire. They can be found at any point in the game and they can be found in any order. Just start any case, and instead of moving on to the scene of the crime, simply drive away to the locations of the Golden Film Reels. You can come back and finish the case at any point.
To help you drive around MUCH faster, let your partner drive for you. Once you set your destination on the map, walk up to the car and press and hold 'Y' on the Xbox 360 or 'TRIANGLE' on the PS3. This will let your partner drive for you. The screen will just fade out and you will automatically appear at your destination.

To help identify the locations of the films I broke it down into 4 parts.
