This is absolutely one of my favorite hymns ... standing in an auditorium of several hundred singing this is an experience which transcends the sounds, and becomes a palpable force shared among all present. Beautiful song.

@9musicman7 Is it just the youth, or is the whole church invited? Our area-wide singing takes place at Ponca City, OK, at the Hartford Avenue CoC, and it's mostly adults because there are a lot around this area that love to sing (though the number has dwindled I'm sorry to say). I sing it there all the time, because when you have a group of people who love to sing in a building singing this A Capella, it just brings tears of joy to your eyes.

The first time I heard this beautiful hymn start I thought it was a bit boring. Then the Basses were added. Then the Tenors. Then the Sopranos. By the time it was done, I was in tears. I wish my school choir would do this one while I'm a part of it, but I don't know if the choir teacher would want to.

Since I'm a song leader, I lead this one in big congregations whenever I can, because that's when it really resonates in the building. You just want to *soak* it in during the last verse. |-)
