Gackt - Dirge of Cerberus

EDIT: Just to clarify, the ONLY Final Fantasy character that was based on Gackt was Genesis. According to character designer Tetsuya Nomura himself, Squall was inspired by River Phoenix. You can read about it here: http://ps2.ign.com/articles/085/085275p1.html

I think Gackt was the only one who kept insisting that Squall is "Gackt #2" in a video where he was shopping for a Squall figure, which he referred to as a "Gackt doll".

And I don't think there have been any official statements about Cloud or Tidus being inspired by Gackt - or anyone else, for that matter.

i think putting celebs in games isnt too bad, mainly japanese celebs. they take there acting really seriously so they wont screw it up, plus its freakin Gackt lol.

Actually, River Phoenix was the main inspiration for Squall. Cloud and Tidus, Gackt of course. I think it's good to finally get a character who...IS Gackt. Genesis is ownage...and is stronger than Sephiroth. Only one man can pull that coolness off: Gackt. ^_^
