EV1 Gen1: Recalled

On March 8, 2000 my EV1 Gen1 was recalled due to an electical issue. They would not let us turn them in but came to our homes and towed the cars away. I was later able to get a Gen2 but had to return it when the lease expired as GM ended the program, the car was later crushed by GM.

It was a lease so GM owned the car. The sent a notice to me that said to stop driving the car as there was an issue with the charger.

I don't believe "recalled" is really the best word. Yes, I know it was on lease, and yes, I know that means it was technically GM's car, but I think "stolen" would be a much better word to use in your title.

@sprocket762 just out of curiosity, why couldn't you take ur gen2 light-blue ev1 to a public storage, pay 4 a week or so for a garage to hide it while GM is taking them back, tell the police or GM that it has been jacked (car-jackings happen all the time) so they can file it. besides if it really was jacked GM would prob never find it anyway. so they must let it go and focus on taking the other ones, and if u have a vacation home out of the u.s. secretly take it there where it's not really known
