  • My mom died march 22, 2009, and this was the song she asked to be played at her memorial service because it was my mom and dad's first dance together on the night they met.

  • @OkieOma My mom loved it too, she will have been a hundred come April 12th.

  • We watched The glenn miller show at school and the music was awesome!

  • @oskarmac14 i ply the cornet so i just wanted to say that for no reason.

  • Rare live recording. Note natural live echo throughout, spot on coronet solo by Bobby Hackett.

  • @anita22859 that is a good set list, how about String of Pearls as well? I am really finally appreciating this music, I was a paid critic but it was not of my era. all the old guys said give it another try, as usual they were right......new bio of Glenn must read for musicians and HUGO 3=D a must see movie for all.

  • @BruceRTalbot one thing I learned seeing one of the last big bands live when I was a paid critic, this music was LOUD. as loud as rock and roll when played live. it took me time to appreciate it but I get it now. and after reading the recent bio of Glenn Miller, I see the heroic time that went with it.....all genres of music are good.

  • I was trained in classical and a real punk rocker, but the older generation said give it another listen, I am really learning to love this music.....it took me time. for me it is not dance music as it was for them, but I do love the complexity of the lines.....and Glenn Miller was a great american hero of that time. new biography.....Thanks Glenn.....I get it now........

  • @BruceRTalbot Well I gave you a thumbs up, But this music was set in a time when you wanted to be with your sweetheart as long as possible on the dance floor after all you did just pay a quarter for the door, Ladys got in free. So slow was best. and a coke was a nickle then. Second it had to be able to raise the spirit, those times were in a nut shell not so much fun. Faster yes for todays kids, for us oldies fast is no fun.

  • my grandma thinks this music is incredible and what i think amazing

  • By today's standard, its a little slow. Sounds better if you pick up the pacing.
