you're probably talking about My Nappy Roots: A Journey Through Black Hair-itage, I watched that documentary. I wanna watch this one also. I heard Chris Rock is being sued for stealing the Idea. I haven't heard much more about the suit though.

i heard about that also. the creator of My Nappy Roots says that she showed Chris her movie and he said that it would never work a main stream. it is just strange because she did show the movie to him and he has admitted that he saw it. He did do the movie in his own way I just wish he could have at least credited her or included her since she had done so much research already

thanks for the review...I felt similar in that I wish they would have shown various ways black women currently wear their hair...what happen to the natural sista's representation in the movie?? but, it's a start.

man i really think black ladies are letting the side down. if us black men were going around with some indian guys hair on our head so we could look like brad pitt or david beckham we would never hear the end of it. i think beauty come in all types of styles.you don't have to wear someone else's hair thats crazy.Love you God made you beautifull don't be so weak to bow down to everything hollywood and caucasian .Black is beautifull too dont just copy the crowd THINK for yourself

Seems like most natural sistas enjoyed this movie (although as you pointed out they didnt spend enough time showcasing natural hair styles) a lot more than the weave sistas. Many of the weave wearers got very offended Chris Rock was 'outing' them and made them look bad. If telling the truth is making someone look bad, then that's on you.

Excellent movie review! We really enjoyed it. I think you had a few really great questions toward the end. It does call for some deeper action, just wondering how we feel about using the hair that others have sacrificed for their spiritual purposes. We did a pretty good (but dark) movie review on this too!

i don't think she should have been credited because i have seen both movies and they are both coming from two very different points of view. he is right that her movie wouldn't work mainstream because MOST black women are not natural and it is considered extremist. if the Nappy Roots creator wants to re-release her movie, i think that she should, but it would be a waste to release it anywhere other than the bigger cities. plus she isn't cool with oprah. lol. Chris did a great job.
