  • Can I install a SATA drive in slot B and then clone the drive in slot A to B? The reason I am doing this is to save everything before the drive in slot A (which is 8 years old) fails. I then want to remove the old drive in slot A and replace it with the drive in slot B. I was told I can use software called SuperDuper to do this. BUT, the forums say that I have to this with the new drive outside of the machine using a USB cable. Thank you for your response.

  • @Schmangy You should be able to clone with both drives installed internally.

  • Yes, both the PowerMac G5 & the Mac Pro use 3.5" SATA hard drives.

  • @OWCmacsales Thank you. It's not recognizing the drive for some reason. I installed a 3.5" SATA into slot B, but Disk Utility is not seeing it.
