The MV Princess of Acadia was built in 1971 at the Saint John Shipbuilding and Drydock CO in Saint-John, N.B. She was purpose built for the Digby, N.S.-Saint John, N.B. route . She is 146.3 meteres (480 feet) long and 20.5 meteres (66 feet) wide. She ran in Canadian Pacific colors from 1971-76, then from 1976 to 1996 ran under CN Marine/Marine Atlantic until privitization of the ferry service in 1997 under current operator Bay Ferries Limited.
