I'm just a user. This valuable hint originates to Vadim Pisarevsky, who posted it in the OpenCV mailing list at Y*h** (I'm trying to avoid surreptitious advertising). Honour to whom honour is due: AFAIK Vadim did the latest optimisations in cvHaarDetectObjects.

Try updating OpenCV from CVS, then use CV_HAAR_FIND_BIGGEST_OBJECT flag. Still 200ms or 20ms now?
Cheers, have fun!

Man, that was fast!
I'm really getting 20ms and the sensation is way better :)
Are you one of the OpenCV developers?
I've seen your "Low-cost Remote Eyetracking for 19" Display", it is really cool!
I'm only head tracking. When I get some time, I'll try to see your approach to eyetracking (it seems to be working fine for the video Accuracy test).
Are you in a Master or PhD program?
Thanks for your help,
Dan
