However, when you hit another creature, retaliation is a reaction that you can expect. I'm saying that her actions seem less appropriate than his inappropriate actions because her actions seem more self propelled (as in bullying), while his actions seem to be more of a reaction. I think his reaction was both inappropriate and understandable at the same time.

White knighting is wrong because people are different and abuse is defined as an intentional act. Hitting someone is another story and, unlike abuse, that CAN be caused by people's issues. Abuse is about a non-delusional desire for revenge. Some people can't live up to the status quo. That's just how they're built. I forgive for my own well being. Not for others'.

Just an FYI, abuse isn't about bruises and scars. It is about dominance and control. Commonly known fact. This is further proven by your username.
