This video was prepared by Northwest Portland Ministries volunteers to provide an understanding of a Guide Dog applicant's needs, as well as for use in evaluating his travel skills. It demonstrates the applicant traveling in full, front, side, and back views and demonstrates safe and independent street crossings and independent navigation in his home area. It includes aspects of the applicant's daily routes: traveling on roads, cement sidewalks, paths to the grocery and boarding the public transportation he normally uses. It also shows the applicant's home and work area, including desk, break area, and the guide dog's anticipated rest area. Travel speed is demonstrated with a sighted guide - an NWPM volunteer.

NWPM inspires volunteers from congregations and the larger community to help neighbors live with dignity and purpose. We provide food, recreation and helping hands.

Please consider donating to NWPM! It's easy to use our secure payment form on our web site at: http://nwpm.org/cc.aspx

With many ongoing activities, we're continually seeking new volunteers to help our neighbors in Northwest and Downtown Portland. Please contact us if you would like to join our caring community of volunteers at 503-221-1224 or info@nwpm.org. Learn more here: http://nwpm.org/Volunteer.aspx
