  • Eliane Elias is one of the reasons I love being alive. I could dig her artistry every day. Great musicianship, Ms. Elias, Mr. Johnson, and Mr. DeJohnette!

  • So much genius in small hands and a baby face! Go home, avatars from the smoky realms of false heroism who say that a pianist must be a male baboon with Rachmaninoff hands. We are today back in matriarchy with a Baby Goddess being our spiritual guide and our eternal erotic attraction. I bless you, Eliane! You have changed the world, and art!

  • To Phil Vassallo.... I am soooo jealous....I wanted to see her at JALC so badly bur wasn't able to get there....I think that Diana Krall is well aware that there no competition between them. She truly gets me out of myself, when I am feeling sorry for myself, or just not in a good mood....Wasn't she doing scoring and arranging for famous Brazilian artists when she was a teenager? Maybe somebody here knows!

  • It cleverly starts with a snatch of 'In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning'

  • I think she's still amazing. I saw her at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola in New York on June 2. In fact, I never heard her sound so good. She is a brilliant pianist who can electrify an audience--as she did that night.

  • @PhilVassallo

One of the bestI So totally agree, Phil! But unfortunately she got swamped in later in her career, I suppose because of productors, trying to emulate Diana Krall and playing very soft and light bossa. She is 50 times (as proven here) a better pianist than singer. Even the bossa playing in her later years became more "commercial" and less appealing to real jazzers. The chemistry here is wonderful. Marc married her, but I am not sure they were already wed at this show.

  • Great!. Top jazz piano!. And then, no wonder why Randy Brecker and later Marc Johnson fell in love with her.

  • My ears are ALIVE with the sound of music! being created as it is felt, just great.

  • Steinway:)

  • a marvelous introduction for melody, harmony and dynamic variety..and there are no enough words to describe the musical beauty of her solo..this solo should be transcribed;then I could perhaps understand to the best the marvelous beauty of the style of Eliane Elias
