I needed to post this.
Even though I come off as very rude and obnoxious at parts, I do believe that under the anger I have a very valid point. Teachers forget that students with IEPs are more than a file, and it upsets me to no end.
I promise I'm not always this rude. Actually, I almost never get this angry. This issue is just very close to my heart.

(I get on a sort of tangent at the end, the whole marking period mini-rant came from my being stressed as the end of this marking period is coming up and I'm drowning in work.)

  • I am not sure how they do it in America but we have a highly regulated system in Australia that sets out in the state wide syllabus exactly what assessments must be given each term. I know at my school we get a plan of the entire year on the first day. Interesting to see how the American system works and in this case seems not to.

  • Here teachers have to do that too... its just that they dont stick to their syllabus and dont make anything worth enough, so that at the end of each marking period they dont have a grade for us, if that makes sense.

  • i totally feel the same why i have an IEP and i hate being treated like iam stupid they just bring up all the thing that ive done wrong or how i suck at something i have ZERO control over your schedule i get class that i dont want or make me feel less like a studnet that goes there

  • I agree with you 100%! I have an IEP and a lot of my teachers treat me like I'm a baby. It gets really old.

  • @ 2:08........how about teachers that say "thats a lot of work and I don't get paid enough".......THEN quit, you're useless....go back to college for finance and figure out how to make it big at the NY stock exchange. There are some good ones (educators) out there. I hope you have "transitioned" to higher ed now, you seem very smart, come help make a difference, I am

  • I like this video. It's good to vent your frustrations. I'll try to watch it from time to time to keep my mind on track. Every kid deserves an education. I enjoy catering to people, so hopefully I never become like the people you are upset with in the video.

  • Hi!

Thank you for sharing your frustrations. I was in your shoes during my high school days. I had an IEP and was told that I would not be able to go to college because I was not smart enough. Well, I did graduate from college and I am now a special education teacher. So, please do not give up on advocating for yourself and for others. I want to show your PSA to my co-workers. You are being heard.
