O Jardim do Lago,
foi inaugurado no dia 16 de Janeiro de 2005,
Localizado na zona de expansão da cidade, junto à central de camionagem, com uma forte componente habitacional e escolar, o maior jardim alguma vez construído na Covilhã possui um restaurante, dois bares com quiosques, um espelho/queda de água, diversos percursos pedonais, parque de passeio para barcos de recreio de pequeno porte, diversos pontões sobre o espelho de água, parque de desportos radicais e parque infantil.
A Covilhã é uma cidade portuguesa, porta da Serra da Estrela, com cerca de 34 mil habitantes, cujo perímetro urbano é formado por quatro freguesias originárias (Santa Maria, Conceição, São Martinho e São Pedro) e mais seis (Teixoso, Canhoso, Vila do Carvalho, Cantar Galo, Boidobra e Tortosendo) que se uniram à cidade quando pelo seu crescimento o perímetro desta se alargou. É a terra da indústria da lã, de cariz operário, berço de descobridores de quinhentos, hoje uma cidade com Universidade . O seu núcleo urbano estende-se entre os 450 e os 800 m de altitude.

Covilhã is located in the Centro region, Cova da Beira subregion, in central Portugal; 300 km Northeast of Lisbon, Portugal's capital; 100 km East of Coimbra, the regional administrative centre; and at the bottom of the highest Portuguese mountain range, Serra da Estrela. The city of Castelo Branco is located 50 km to the south of Covilhã and the neighbouring town of Fundão, the largest locality in the vicinities of Covilhã, is 20 km also to the south. The city of Covilhã towers between 450 and 800 metres above the sea level, thus the mountain Penhas da Saúde is one of its highest points. At 1,500 metres high, this village and winter resort is located within the Serra da Estrela Natural Park. The climate in Covilhã is temperate, moderately cold in the winter and relatively warm in the summer. There is the Vodafone Ski Resort, the only ski resort in Portugal, 20 km away from the city, actually in the neighbouring municipality of Seia. Covilhã has a public university - the University of Beira Interior (UBI), which was founded in 1979 and awards all university academic degrees (licentiate , master's and doctorate degrees) in several fields ranging from medicine to mathematics to sports sciences to aeronautical engineering to cinema, among many others.

Covilhã es una ciudad portuguesa con 36 723 habitantes, sede de un municipio con 556,43 km² de área y 54.506 habitantes (2001), subdividido en 31 freguesias.Puerta de la Serra da Estrela, esta es la tierra de la industria de la lana, cuna de descubridores del siglo XVI, hoy una ciudad con universidad publica. En la vertiente sudeste de la Serra da Estrela, Covilhã (36 723 hab.) es uno de los centros urbanos del interior de Portugal. La ciudad está localizada a 20 km del punto más alto de Portugal Continental, la Torre (1.993 msnm) y su núcleo urbano se extiende entre los 450 y los 800 m . Es un pueblo de características muy propias desde hace siglos, conjugando en simultáneo hechos únicos en la realidad portuguesa.

Covilhã ist eine Stadt in Portugal am südlichen Rand des Naturparks der Serra da Estrela. In der administrativen Gliederung Portugals ist Covilhã Sitz des gleichnamigen Kreises und gehört damit zum Distrikt Castelo Branco in der Subregion Cova da Beira. Die Entstehung der Stadt Covilhã geht zurück auf eine an gleicher Stelle entstandene prähistorische Siedlung, die von lusitanischen Schäfern als Unterschlupf genutzt wurde.Covilhã bekam das Stadtrecht im Jahre 1870.Seit der Gründung der Universität Beira Interior im Jahr 1979 ist Covilhã eine Universitätsstadt.
