To continue: Just because the traitorous black radio stations and the foolish black people turned their backs on the man who created funk because they have the musical attention span of a flea has nothing to do with how good his music was. Mr. Brown had some of his greatest music after 1977.

@Phunkville - You are clueless! Forget Maceo and Fred. James Brown is the genius who created James Brown. I'm sicjk and tired of everyone kissing these sidemen's asses and trying to say they were equal to Mr. Brown. This was one of his greatest records, better than the original Payback.

It appears the decline has begun....the music at this time seems to be re-hash of re-hash....too bad JB's ego got in the way of great musical relationships with Fred and Maceo. He could have rode those horses until the end......

I always thought that Jimmy Nolan was the insperation for Blacula, as played by William Marshall. Mr Nolan was a jazz band leader/arranger/producer prior to hooking up with James Brown. Check out the Youtube videos for James Brown Live, Switzerlin, 1973. You can hear Mr Nolan carrying the band.

I've spent almost twenty years studying the guitar playing of Jimmy Nolen. This is the best footage ever taken of him. He is my insiration.. His legacy is infinite.
