13 December 2011 : the meterological station at mailn head ( the most northerly point on the mainland of Ireland ) reported waves heights of 20.2 metres ( 66 feet ) and wind speeds of 140 kph (87 mph ). The combination of these factors with an air temp of 2c created a chill factor that made venturing out of the car quite ...hazardous ..foolhardy . The photos show some of the hills on the way to malin across the beautiful Innisowen peninsula in Donegal and then my attempt to video while getting blown off my feet . The music is from a 1980's recording of the brilliant Irish outfit Buttons and Bows playing the appropriate reel " the " Boys of Malin "
