On the eve of his 80th birthday, the eminent Australian conductor, Richard Boyngne, talks with the former Artistic Director of The Australian Opera (later Opera Australia), Moffatt Oxenbould, about his career and musical passions and his experiences working with some of the greatest operatic artists of the last six decades.

Richard Bonynge's return to his own country in 1965 as Artistic Director of the Sutherland-Williamson Grand Opera Company, and his subsequent work with Opera Australia, State opera companies and generations of Australian singers, has been of lasting significance for opera in Australia and around the world.
