Her diet actually corresponds to the current British Queen Elizabeth II's, who also allegedly desires a simple diet of Earl Grey, Marmalade on Toast, Marie (coincidence) biscuits.

Royalty have been portrayed as exotic and luxurious, they usually weren't! Many had very simple diets and were pretty much ordinary.

How right you are. Recent examination of accounts prove that Louis XVI's rather unpleasant aunts spent more on fashion than Marie-Antoinette. She was, in every way, most wrongly framed.
