*PART 2*

Since there are not really many videos of guys bringing the brootz with the Tokai les pauls, I figured it was high time for someone to take responsibility and show you that even with the stock alnico II pickups, this thing can absolutely scream.

My new 2009 Tokai LS150 les paul replica through a splawn nitro and earcandy scholz sugrarcone speaker inside an avatar vintage oversized 1X12.

  • thanks for the video man. what song was that from 2:00 - 3:07

  • @kurtcobain804 nothing in particular. just random riffing

  • Of course this incredible tone is with the stock pickups....let's not forget that. :) The same pickups that are in this guitar come stock in all the current Tokai Japan models.

  • True. I liked them so much I put the neck pickup into my blue carvin and the bridge pickup went into my strat

  • Cool videos man, really good. One question though. the pickups on the guitar, are those the ones that are standard with the guitar or did you buy new ones? The stock alnico II

    Thx

  • this video has the stock pickups. they're really good (alinco V) but I was looking for a more authentic PAF sound that I get from the sheptones. These pickups are now in my blue carvin DC.

  • thx for this video,man!

    great playin' & great guitar!

    cheers

  • Actually, to be perfectly honest, I myself prefer nitro finish, but solely based on how the neck feels. My experience (subjective, by all means), has proven that an expensive guitar is not always a good guitar, neither a cheap one is a bad one. I'm not trying to bash Tokai, I really believe the two premium line ones I had and disliked were accidents, all I'm saying is that it's best if you try a few first, until you find one that can be used as a benchmark.

  • Thanks for the reply man, yeah nitro finishes are more of a looks think, I mean under that much distortion you could hardly say that the nitro finish made a difference. the pot and cap upgrades are pennies as well, do not understand why the charge so much on such differences...

  • You shouldn't worry about that. I have a LS-75. I used to have a LS-150 and a LS-250 and neither of these two sounded nearly as good as the LS-75. So I did the sensible thing and upgraded the bridge and tailpiece, only to easily get into the same league. Wood is wood, it's always a trial & error thing. If they're more expensive, it doesn't necessarily mean they sound better. Try several models. If you can live without nitro finish (like me), you get to save some cash as well ;-)

  • That is one sick tone man! Loving it! I want one of those LS 150's but it seems the only LS around that range is the 250 for £700 more...gonna have to start saving!
