@XDViPeR By taking the radio out and looking at the harness is best way, but of course here I sit trying to be lazy and look up some video for color coded stock chevy wires.....

@avp0713 If the terminals are the same size of the 9 volt but not all of them would be....

Dude, I need help, I brought some new speakers for my explorer today, I went with the wires colors thinking the dark is negative and red is postive. The speakers work, but I've read that polarity is important for bass. How do I determine which is positive and negative on the factory wires?

Dear Johnnys Shop can you tell by listening or the sound effect from the speakers
being in reverse polarity, and question 2 when running two speakers in parallel
on the same channel effects sound if impedance is reduced .. thanks

@MrMac5150 It's kinda hard to tell by listening unless it's a subwoofer really. When the bass hits, the sub sucks in instead of pushing out. If they are both reversed and running in parallel they would sound the same.

It is important with bass because the speakers will suck in instead of pushing out. Usually won't fry them but won't sound as good. You could do a visual check by playing a song and checking to see if the cone is actually pushing out. It you have a wiring schematic for the car you could check for sure.

Much easier to use a 9 volt square battery... the spacing of the terminals is just perfect to fit the wire connection tabs.

@avp0713 True. I just didn't have one laying around.
