First, its the USA Afternoon Movie bumper, along with a USA network that should be familiar to anyone who watched game shows on USA in the 1980s and 1990s, followed by the opening of The Return of The Beverly Hillibillies... This originally aired on CBS in 1981, but this particular recording is from February 1990

  • Man, that is one idiotic rendition of the theme from "The Beverly Hillbillies." Guess they didn't want to pay Flatt and Scruggs for the rights to the original recording.

  • @Onlymusical I have always thought that as well... it came off as cheap... to the point that people may have tuned away from it during the theme... You can't beat the original... they should've tried harder to get it for this final airing... :)

  • Why is Jethro played by another actor?? Max Baer was still alive.

  • @Brdj010 A Character actor Ray Young... If it sounds bad... it was... The Beverly Hillbillies deserved better... it would have been better had it been done a couple of years earlier prior to the death of Raymond Bailey... :)

  • just not the same as when they 1st hit our screens.. :(

  • @WREYtube Sadly, they probably thought their version was better.

  • @richardwha yeah, because instead of just jumping off the truck they wanted to jack off the truck. so of course they needed an adult man for that.

  • Was Ted McGinley too young to help them jump the shark in 1981?

  • Why are not things left well enough alone? The original "Beverly Hillbillies" were a classic. It might have stayed on the air too long and ran out of steam, but this is a L.A.M.E. as "The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island" intro I just saw on another Youtube clip.

  • @Brdj010 Max Baer was still upset about not getting another acting job, due to typecast. It was two years later, he got into the licensing of BH and used his Jethro influence. It made him more money, than he made before. While Ray Young is more known as Bigfoot, from "Bigfoot and Wildboy", I thought he did okay. They made Colonel Klink act to much like Mr. Drysdale.

  • Max Baer knew how much of a piece of crap this movie would be.
