The famed Aravind Eye Care System was founded in India in 1976 as an 11-bed clinic by Dr. G. Venkataswamy, known as Dr. V. His mission—to eliminate needless blindness by providing high-quality, high-volume eye care for all. Now, Aravind is the largest and most productive eye care facility in the world. Last year, over 1.4 million patients were treated and over 200,000 surgeries performed. Aravind keeps its surgical equipment in operation 24 hours a day.
In the summer of 2010, Dr. V's nephew, Dr. S. Aravind, attended the Tuck Executive Program. Watch how his experience in TEP helped him on this mission to continue his uncle's legacy of compassionate care combined with modern management practices.
