The HK53 is the MP5 but it fires a 5.56 round i think.

@flattsrocker15 Our German military has completely different names for all these weapons. In the English version of BF3 this gun is named G53 and in the German version it is called HK53 (Heckler&Koch, say Hackla und Coch), but the trivia name is MP5 because it a special version like MP5K.

@MrCOHfan - If you know anything about weapons, you'll know that Heckler & Koch (the German weapons manufacturing company which designed the HK53, G36-series, MP5, etc.) names their weapons with different title variations (HK, G, MP, etc.). Needless to say, the HK53/G53 is the same thing -- kind of how the M416 is also called the HK416.

@ThingsInc - You're kind of right. A few select regiments and special forces of the US Army (like the CERT and Delta Force) have adopted the HK416 as their new service rifle. However, for the USMC, they've adopted the M27 IAR as part of the Infantry Automatic Rifle program. The IAR is a USMC requirement for a lightweight automatic rifle for squad automatic rifle use, which replaces the flaws that the M4A1 had (jamming, overheating, etc.).
