From Patricia S. Castillo, L.M.S.W., Executive Director of The P.E.A.C.E.* Initiative:
San Antonio, TX -- This year's theme "Respect = No Abuse!" With that as our motivating challenge, The P.E.A.C.E. Initiative and several organizations that work with men gather along with Police Chief William McManus, Mexican American Catholic College President Arturo Chavez, Women's Support Group Facilitator, Edwin Deleon, White Ribbon Campaign Coordinator Daniel Pineda and Our Lady of the Lake University's Center for Women and the Worden Social Work Organization to rally at Main Plaza downtown to call for a stop to family violence and a stop to male violence against women.
San Antonio is currently experiencing a surge in aggravated family violence cases with a 36% increase just since January.
Tomika's family who came in from out of town to remind us of our charge and to recognize the efforts of the P.E.A.C.E. Initiative.
