The Art Of Sampling 33

1. An answer to Brainbug97 concerning the similarity between the beats of Wisdome's 'Enjoy Yourself' and 'Revolution 909' by Daft Punk. The beats are different and thus, no sampling is involved in this case. However, the Jam & Spoon track 'Guiding Light' used a very similar beat to the one of 'Revolution 909' back in 1997. Is it from a sound bank? Who used it first? I am unable to answer these questions due to the large amount of music out there. If you have any supplemental info, please feel free to share it on this page.
2. L.U.P.O. / BENJAMIN DIAMOND - By entering credits on Discogs, I realised that Benjamin Diamond and Stéphane Mandrax used a sample of L.U.P.O. on the track 'Joyride' (available on Benjamin Diamond's first album and released on 12'' as a promo).
3. ROY AYERS / BASS BUMPERS / PJ / THE NIGHTGROOVERS FEAT. DEANNA / ARMAND VAN HELDEN: Roy Ayers was sampled more than once. 'Running Away' is a classic and it's flavour is still alive in many House and Hip Hop tracks today.
The funky drum beat at the very beginning of 'Running Away' was used dozens of time. I do not live in England, but if I clearly remember, the show 'Top Of The Pops' used it once for their generic.

The Revolution 909 beat was also used in 1999 for Cher's Believe... hmmm....

I've just check that and you are right: apart from the sound of a drum that is different, the whole basic beat is there.

Revolution Cher !? ;) Scary.

I presume it's originally from a sound bank.

Troysson81, you are right about The Emotions being sampled in 'All Right' by Armand Van Helden. That distinctive 'Aww!' . :)

'Joyride' was released as a promo on a 12" but was not an official single. A short version of it is on the album 'Strange Attitude'. :)
