Final Round # 2 for the Texas BEST 2009 robotics competition: High Octane
The finalists were:
-Team 36 Academy of Science & Technology (green quadrant)
-Team 17, Whitewright High School (red quadrant)
-Team 33, Kountze High School (yellow quadrant)
-Team 43, Grace Prep. Academy (blue quadrant)
In the 2009 BEST robotics competition, "High Octane," teams gathered points by accumulating the necessary resources to make the highest-value "fuel" possible. The four available resources included H20 (racket balls), catalyst (tennis balls), energy (8 oz tomato paste cans), Co2 (beach balls), and in the semi final and final rounds, benzine tankers. Each had their own point value, but could be used to make much higher-value fuels through a system of equations. This game was very strategy-intensive, and had little tolerance for error.
Placement of finalists was as follows:
1st. Academy of Science & Technology
2nd. Whitewright High School
3rd. Grace Prep. Academy
4th. Kountze High School
