The TR-696FD1 is a 40 channel AM/SSB CB radio with six digit frequency counter. This video is a overview/review of the radio and we also provide information on how to adjust AMC (modulation), AM power output, and SSB ALC. We also show how to add talkback by removing D75 on the radio.

So far I've been impressed with the radio - see our full review with pictures at CBradiomagazine.com

  • I have a connex that looks identical. its a very good radio.

  • Is it possible to get a front face skin for the radio, if the channel mod is done, do you know if the frequency readout will show the out of band frequency? Great vid, I like the fact you guys actually open it up and show some quick mods on it!

  • I live in an Apt, how do I hook one of these up in my apt? I am just getting into this stuff, could you lead me to any good forums and sites too? Thanks, keep up the great vids.

  • Just got a Texas Ranger chromed out CB today. Tickled pink, and I can't wait to get it in my truck.

    Google: GI Joes Radio Electronics

    They have a few left.

  • Below L22, which is the lower sideband frequency adjustment, is a pot that you call the TX OFFSET. What does the transmit offset do? I understand how to adjust everything else and your video was very understandable. But you do not state waht the TX OFFSET does. A clarification would be very appreciated.

  • Excellent job there, Brew!

  • Will a RFX-75 work on this raido?
