  • Hey Bill.... I took your advise about playing to a metronome... got bored of it... and started playing to backing tracks.

One thing I've noticed is that I can improvise in any key, regardless of what key signature the piece is in. Not so sure why it is working, but it is :)

  • @ChickityChoice Playing to a 'nome is indeed a grind. Interesting to hear you're getting on so well with backing tracks though - personally, I find them a bit annoying, but I know a lot of people love them. Interesting what you say about keys: I say it this so often I must sound like a stuck record, but when you're improvising there aren't right notes and wrong notes - just some that sound better than others. Keep it up, and if you get a chance post a vid sometime!

  • I am self learning to play a keyboard. this lesson is exactly the right one i am looking for. thanks for this video and more thanks in advance for other videos i will watch later on.

    Moe

  • @moearkar No problem Moe - and good luck learning the keyboard! Let me know if there are any specific videos it would be useful for you to see. I'm trying to stay away from creating very basic stuff, but if you can think of any other piano tutorials that would be useful at this kind of level, don't hesitate to let me know.

  • Great, thanks for the help, i've been looking for vids like yours. keep up the good work !

  • Hey, no worries - lots more to come!

  • hey Bill , you said you can play 3 notes if your piano is tuned but aren't all digital pianos always tuned perfectly ? Thanks.

  • Thanks man! This is extremely useful stuff, the kind of info I have been looking for. I would like to see more on different "patterns" for accompaniment, different styles etc.

  • Love your videos. You are actually trying to teach people something, not just showing off. Well done!

  • your sound needs to be normaliesed so it is more easily heard

  • Thanks a lot. This was really nice.
