It's so annoying to see this approach to drinking problems, you can't stop an alcoholic by taking away his cheap drinks - alcoholics are resourceful and defiant and it drives them into a deeper determination to drink...Sorry but what we need is an extension of the mental health act in which relatives can force a family member into rehab for their own good. As for young drinkers, we need worthwhile programmes to occupy them; ie things they WANT to do, not what we think's best.
