Song: Lughnasadh Dance
Artist: Damh The Bard
Album: The Cauldron Born

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

Lugh the light
Of summer bright
Clothed
All in green

Tailtiu
His mother true
Rise up
And be seen

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

The child grew tall
From spring to fall
He's off to
Find a wife

But Balor came
To make his claim
And swore to
Take his life

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

The two did fight
From noon till night
When Lugh did
Strike him one

And Balor's eye
Flew in the sky
And there became
The sun

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

Lugh was wed
And made his bed
With Erin in
The north

And there they lay
For many a day
And soon a child
Came forth

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

The child grew tall
From spring to fall
Setanta was
His name

And then at length
By honor's strength
CuChulainn he
Became

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

At the festival
Sound the horn
Calling the people
Again

Child of Barleycorn
Newly summerborn
Ripening like
The grain

  • Now this is the real music! I always enjoy Damh's stuff. As a Bard in training, I can't wait to dance in a field to this music! Pagan music will never die, just like the Pagan religion!

May you live as long as you want,

And not want as long as you live!

  • Happy Lughnasadh all! This holiday is so cheerful! I chose it to do my dedication ritual :)

  • every time I hear this song, I just want to dance!

  • im a ten year old pagan and i love everything about it

  • Happy Lughnasadh! :-) Great music!

  • @donjaysus Why, yes. Are you in need of some? :)

  • It seems a lot of the younger Pagans here don't know this is a cover of a classic Gwydion Pendderwen song from the early Seventies... There should be more updates of them, a lot of them really deserve a treatment like this. :)

Hail Lugh, the harvest, and bright blessing all this Lugnasadh. :)

  • Today is Lughnasadh *jump* Blessed be )O(

  • When Lughnasadh appears hopes for a quick season change..hey it is hot down here! Because you know fall and Mabon are'nt too far behind! Love the song!

  • Was singing along to this today on my way to the shops. It's beautiful.
