On a day off we were relaxing at the Point and this perfect polar bear crept up to us. I don't like to disturb them but had no choice but to start the van... When on tour I have to keep a 100 meter distance. I was amazed at its speed... Notice the second bear scavenging on the whale bone pile in the background.

  • Dan, hows it going? My wife Dawn and I visited in Feb. of 08. Spent a great day with you and your cousin and got to enjoy some great whale meat. Whats your website and/or email? Look foward to coming back. Tony and Dwn.

  • @tonysanso hi Tony and Dawn - Sorry I take so long to reply - Nice to hear from you and I hope you and yours the best - we sold the biz to my cousin - he does a great job! Come visit again!

  • i feel so bad for polar bears b/c they are endangered and they are currently trying to battle for survival

  • A lot is changing in the Arctic Ocean, ice thickness and consistency is challenging polar bears and Inuit Peoples as well.

  • This is soooooo sad....that poor thing is hungry!!!! :(

  • Wow, so close. I've been to the point a few times since moving here and have yet to see one.

  • Im moving to Barrow in a couple weeks for first yr high skool i hope i get to see a polar bear like this one and not one of the ones who would wanna eat me o_O..but yeah awesome video hehe :D

  • I want to eat it.

  • Good sized male about 1300 - 1400 lbs.

  • hi northern most tours , thanks for not being one sided , some scientists are saying yea and some are saying nay . i live in the yukon and we are having a very warm one while in the states i think they are having a cool one . you see change everday ? you must be very "observant "

  • i posted your comment because i dont want to be one sided about the issue, but in general the ice seems to be thinner and smaller - and the movements are not consistent. it is hard to believe scientists saying its not happeneing when we see the change everyday...

  • @SHADOWBOXERBAYBEE its ok for your heart now , if you do some research you will find that the ice is coming back to the artic . about 400000 sq kilometers in the last four years , this is only a few percent of the total but its going in the right direction anyway . also look at st elias glacier or else punch in alsec river glacier , its coming back to . as it has in cycles forever
