I can agree with most of what you said; but as virtual reality improves, social networking will also. Hopefully by the next 10 years we can finally meet random strangers such as on facebook while keeping our social skills the same if not better...Think outside the box here, do you think we will still be using a keyboard and mouse looking into a flat screen in 10 years? I hope not!

@jnorris32 Fine, jump on that trendy bandwagon like the rest of the lemming-like collective who march to pop culture's call and Madison Avenue's mantra of "buy more, be happy," or the "FAST, EASY, and FUN" edict.

@jnorris32 The world was connecting long before the internet. Ever hear of satellites? They've been flying around in orbit transmitting info since the 1950s. My condemnation of "virtual" has more to do with the shallow and superficial nature of socialization. People collecting "friends" on FB and other "social" media without even first knowing who they are is rather silly. It simply proves that the criteria for friendship is set at such a low bar. That's pop culture's influence at work.

I envision new virtual reality technology and platforms as a new accepted way of life in the near future. It's people like you who never achieve his or her dreams because they think "Old Fashion" is still in style.

You don't understand this decade yet, this is the beginning of a new era because with the creation of the internet the world can connect with each other for the FIRST TIME IN HISTORY.
Virtual Reality doesn't only have to be about "collecting baseball cards" but that should be a tiny part of the "Earth theme."

"Virtual" is BS. It's a lot of lonely nerds without enough actual flesh and blood contact in real life, or people with some compulsion to collect "friends" like kids collecting baseball cards. You want to meet people? Get the heck away from your computers, out of your houses, and join the real world. The internet is NOT the real world. It's a fantasy land or amusement park, take your pick.
