The source for this was a letterbox widescreen vob file. Naturally this means more black bars above and below then any image detail. I hate these types of videos because the visual information is so small and trying to blow them up to HD level has quite a few inherent problems.

One thing that really annoyed me was the bizarre interlacing of this video. I had to deinterlace it twice can you believe that? The first pass using my best filter rendered it progressive and at first it seemed the yucky interlaced lines and 'combing' lines were completely gone but I was mistaken. After playing it back something caught my eye and when examining closely it I spotted some interlacing lines again in certain areas of the video. I went back and checked again to see if I had indeed chosen the best deinterlacing filter and yes I had chosen the best one. I just scratched my head and cursed under my breath. So I went through my filter list trying to find one to take care of this remaining interlace crap and again picked the one that did the best job. Well I got most of it but no matter what I did I couldn't get rid of it all. So if you see any odd lines or jagged edges here and there then you will know it stems from this problem. Most of you won't notice.

Other noise for this video wasn't so bad to deal with. Nearly All levels of noise, fizz and grain have been removed and what's left you won't notice either. I didn't touch the colors or lighting as I considered it fine as it was. I have enhanced the detail and sharpened it while scaling it to HD level. It came out looking great considering where it came from.

Audio was just fine from the original file and it was left untouched except for normalizing the audio as it was quite low.
