  • @INDIRACMC1 Backdated? What are you blabbering about? "Smartphones" do NOT have e-ink screens, which do not strain the eyes and use up so little power that the battery can last for a month. Buying a book on a smartphone really does strain your eyes, just like reading on your computer for long periods does. This device is designed for only one purpose... Reading. If you are a big reader, you understand. If you are not...

  • i have a nook color that i am going to sell to get this

  • @ThatJustHappened14 Yes you can. You just press on the word it will highlight that word then you just drag that highlight across the paragraph you want to highlight. Also you can make note

  • @kinjur text books are mostly pdf, and I would not recommend nook or kindle or any of the smaller portable ebook readers for the sole purpose of they only re-size the page of the pdf making the words impossible to read. Think of like this, pdfs are like wallpaper, while ebook reader are table picture frame, how would it look if you stuffed the wallpaper in the picture frame? Blame Adobe for not making pdfs better. For pdfs/textbooks, I would recommend buying Kindle DX.

  • @kinjur depends on the graphics maybe, but I am looking at organic chemistry textbooks and it's pretty easy to view

  • Anyone know how textbooks look on the Nook Simple Touch? Are the graphics from the book easy to see on the Nook?

  • fastly lol

  • It's amazing to me that people still don't understand the point of the E-INK. It's not outdated technology, it's a solution for long term reading by mimicking paper. geez!

  • can you highlight texts to make notes on this? say for a student?

  • do nooks use real page numbers? like the page numbers that would correspond with the physical book itself

  • I just wanna ask I am having sony 350 but the problem is that its screen is dull and when it comes to pdf ... The pdf doesnt fit in to screen as well as the last words on the line breaks and it happen so many time in a single page that I get irritated. So can u suggest me a good reader?.. Should I go for IPAD but I m concern abt eye strain cause I am comp engg and read lots of tech books..

  • @LeeroyFan101 Thanks Leeroy! We can always rely on you to run in and test everything out before we go in ;)

  • Getting nook soon looks awesome!!!

  • I cannot change the font, and I cannot add bookmarks or highlight texts. When I go to fonts, I can only change the size, and that's about it. Help?!

  • i love my nook touch!!!!!!!!!! <333

  • would it solve the pdf issues if i convert the pdf files to epub before loading it into the nook ?

  • @jding86

Well for me it just gave me a blank screen. Like there was the cover page and the table of contents but everything after that was just blank.

  • @LeeroyFan101 how bad is it with pdf? that's the only reason I want to get one, but I'm having troubles finding reviews on that feature

  • @wadejl98

Personally, I think that the touch and the color are apples and oranges. The touch is a nicely focused device: very lightweight, trim form factor, with e-ink; i.e. easy on the eyes with a long battery life, but restricted to grayscale. Also, at $140, it's pretty inexpensive. The color can either be considered a low-end tablet or an expensive and snazzy e-reader with a crappy battery life. If I was tempted to upgrade to a color, I'd just spring for an ipad or an android tablet.

  • Just bought one of these today. I'm kinda disappointed that they don't work so well with pdf's since that was one of the main reasons I got it.

  • after viewing your video, I will return my new kindle back to buy this one. touch screen always makes life easier.

  • @INDIRACMC1 One can also root it to run Android or Kindle app. I have one but I'm not in a hurry to root it. :P

BUT if anyone is interested on rooting a Nook touch - search in google: NookTouch Rooting

It's worth glancing over in just seeing the full potential of what a "backdated gadget" Nook Touch can do. ;)

To convert PDF files to ePub or to any other file between these: FB2 LIT LRF MOBI PDF PDB TCR -- try this site: ebook(.)online-convert(.)com

    Happy reading^^

  • @wadejl98 Good choice, This is much better, lighter, and smaller

  • @INDIRACMC1 you don't read that many books on a smart phone do you?

  • gonna buy this instead of the kindle but i just hope the frame was so much smaller
