@tressaadabo Christina's technique is more damaging and labouring than Alicia's. Jessica Simpson is another example on being a high soprano based on her tessitura alone, but her strains, constricts, screeches, and really sounds like it's in pain. This song by Alicia is not even written in a soprano range, it's written and composed in a contralto range E3-C#5. The highest belted note as heard in this song is a C#5 that peaks to D5. Yes she's straining on it, she was emotional because of a death.

@tressaadabo You should know what you are talking before writing those comments. I said that she's a raw vocalist, which means that her singing does not exactly focus on technical precision but raw emotion and passion. You said that she's not a soprano, so that would mean that she's not able to sing this song. First of all, being a soprano has nothing to do with having ease in an upper register. Christina Aguilera is a mezzo soprano, but she strains and have no control in a range from A4 to D5.

The point of the matter is she had trouble hitting the high notes. Maybe it's not damage maybe it's a lack of real talent. Some people just can't sing, face the facts.

@tressaadabo First of all , yes she is a singer and everybody has flaws. There's no singer that is perfect. Secondly alto is not a voice type, it's a part for a choir. She's a contralto, which is the deepest female singing voice. She's the female version of a tenor, but she's not a tenor because that's a male voice type. She has a raw style, which fits her style. This isn't even written in a soprano range. Do you even know what you are talking about? She sounds like this because of vocal damage.

Jesus is my ONLY idol. The way she sounded had NOTHING to do with grieving. She screamed through quite a bit of the song because she is not a soprano, she's an alto and maybe even a tenor. She can sing good only when she's prepared to. She was not prepared to sing. She can carry a tune but she's no SINGER. Whitney was a SINGER and I bet even if Sissy would have passed away, she's get up in front of the church with tears in her eyes and bring it!

@tressaadabo She can sing and she was emotional at her funeral. If anyone was sad and singing at someone that they care about funeral, they wouldn't sound perfect. I think that it's very rude to see that about someone mourning for a friend. Whatever happnened to the humanity in people. She's sing from the soul and that's something that cannot be taught. She sang this song before technically perfect back during the 2008 As I AM Tour, but she just let it all out at Whitney Houston's funeral.

I think thats incredibly rude. not going to lie. Incredible pressure and that kind of pain? with until one of the idols that influenced you so greatly die, sing incredibly and ill stop, but until then, she was amazing and will continue to be amazing until the day she dies.

@jakob7671 I've performed in front of more people than that(singing and playing sax). I've seen people sing while crying and sound better. That was her song she sang it many times b4 so she should have had no problem. She wasn't singing she was screaming. Didn't u c her lean back in her seat 2 hit those notes. She can carry a tune but can't SING. The music industry hoodwinked u,entertainers and singers r not always same, now it's what appeals 2 the eyes more than the ears that's important.
Like this comment if you just watched alicia keys peform this at the Whitney Houston funeral
