PHOENIX — Students at St. Gregory School joined together Feb. 24 to sing "Alleluia" one last time before Lent begins. During the liturgical season of Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday, Catholics refrain from singing "Alleluia" before the Gospel proclamation during Mass. "Alleluia" is an expression of joy and the triumph of the resurrection of Christ. During the season of Lent, a penitential time, Catholics prepare themselves for the resurrection by focusing on the crucifixion. "Alleluia" is sung once more during Easter, the day the celebrates the resurrection of the Lord.
