Tesco engineering energy-efficient stores

Mark Hawker, IMechE Fellow and Head of Engineering Design for Tesco Property Services, discusses the construction and operation of their energy-efficient sustainable concept store.

Using new technologies and construction methods, engineers have radically reduced the store's energy consumption and achieved a 43% reduction in its carbon footprint. They are now well on course to reducing their energy consumption by 50% between 2000 and 2010.
