@1050HzSineWaveTone I suspect such tracking softwear may be standard equipment with many weather display systems used by TV stations.

I agree 100%. If you look at the yearly averages for Tornadoes you will see that MA has a higher percentage than the rest of New England. Especially the Metro West.
I used to live in So NH and remember many tornado producing storms. Now, I live in western Maine and believe it or not the town/county in which I live has had 6 tornadoes this past summer 2009 and as a result the town is talking about installing some type of warning system.

It is shocking they don't enough these days after the 1953 worchester tornado. It was one of the most deadliest tornadoes in US history. That tornado prompted a overhaul nationaly of our warning systems.

The worst tornado to effect eastern Massachusetts occurred on May 31st, 1998, as a funnel cloud was reported from Brockton to Halifax. Another funnel cloud was reported in Brockton on May 21st, 1996. The next day, I remember school was closed.

I remember this day.
I was at my boyfriend's house (We live in Northern Mass) and his mom was watching this with us on his TV.
His little brother was freaking out like the tornado was coming towards us.
It was raining really really bad and the thunder was really loud.
people who said: 'Tornadoes never happen in Rhode Island' are WRONG!!!! actually im hearing alot about twisters in new england latley. maybe new england tornadoes are not as rare as we all thought. i mean look at WBZ-TV in Boston, Mass. they have Viper Tornado Tracker! now if tornadoes were rare in New England then no Viper Tornado Tracker would be needed!
Rhode Island and Massachucets now needs tornado sirens.
