This was just a fun side project I did at home...I recorded myself doing all sorts of crazy things with my voice, and utilizing the powers of SOUND DESIGN (pshew!) I turned them into this stuff. Every bit of VO from the zombies, headcrabs and antlion guard were all made with my voice....it's heavily messed with obviously, but no extra animals or sounds were used. And yes, I am female.
The music is also mine, made specifically for this video. You can hear it and more over at my newgrounds account: http://thelizardofodd.newgrounds.com/

(At the time of this posting, my website is currently down...but it'll be back up again soon! When that happens, I'll link to a .zip file with the files and instructions of how to install them if anyone is interested in having them in their game(s))

  • I do sound design myself and I am currently assigned on a film that requires monster noises. I use a lot of pitching techniques and layering but that only goes so far it seems. I was just curious of some other processes you use to alter your vocals with that I would like to try out myself. I'm looking for new ways to do things to get better, more dynamic sounds from my voice. Your creatures sound awesome by the way...very impressive. That's why I ask.

  • @timmytapeworm13 I'm glad you like them! :D But pitching, layering, and maybe like some distortion is about all I did (can't remember exactly, I'm at work). But I spent a lot of time recording a lot of really weird, weeeird noises with my own voice first...so more than likely it's the source material. Try snarling w/gargling water, growling thru a kazoo, screaming real loud, etc :D I'll see about getting another video up (been meaning to anyway) showing some of the before/after of this stuff. :)

  • yabba my icing

  • where do i find the sound files what i need to change to get custom sounds?

  • great, but i thought 0:21 sounded really cheesy

  • Yours are better than the original.

  • @thacreativeone We can definitely look into it a bit. It would kinda depend on how much you need, what the sounds are, and how fast you want them. But I'm definitely interested, so toss me an email if you think you can put together a soundlist of some sort. :) thelizardofodd at gmail
