This is a ballistic wax test of a 10mm Nosler 135gr JHP hand-loaded VERY hot to around 1600fps. It was fired from my Glock 29 with a Wolff 23lb recoil spring. The load used was: 13.0gr 800-X, CCI 300 primer, COAL 1.260". PLEASE BE CAREFUL IF YOU DUPLICATE THIS LOAD!!! It may not be safe in your gun, so please work up slowly and safely!!! Realize that penetration in my wax tubes is about half that of ballistic gelatin or tissue. Multiply by 1.8 to get a better idea of actual penetration.

Visit my channel for lots more 10mm bullet tests in both water jugs and wax tubes. There's also a video showing you how to make your own "ballistic wax". Thanks for watching!

  • guess`s by the smiley face someone was at the bar last night

  • @240wilbur Haha, yep.

  • Thanks for all your work on 10mm loads. My wife just bought me a 10mm witness and, until I found your tests on Glocktalk, there wasn't much to compare bullets and let me know what would be best for which application. Please keep up the great work.

  • @chopinbloc No problem, it's been fun. I'm glad it has helped. I have been too busy to do much testing lately, but I hope to start doing more after Christmas. I still have plenty more bullets to test, and I also want to start testing some .45ACP rounds for comparison.

  • @mojothemigo Yeah, penetration is a good bit deeper in gel. This is actually homemade wax that I made. To get comparable penetration to gelatin, multiply by about 1.5. So, if penetration in the wax is 6", it should be about 9" in gel/tissue. Everything else is very similar. Fragmentation can be good, but only to some extent. Ideally, a bullet should shed some mass to create a massive wound, but retain enough to assure adequate penetration. Excessive fragmentation can severely reduce penetration.

  • This is like a .357 magnum with 15 rounds!

  • @alphazuluz

I carry this in my G20.All i can say is if a BG gets hit with this those doctors in the emegency room are gonna have their work cut out for them. What a Grand Entry wound this round produces.Holy Molly.Conceled carry round thats good in spring/summer or in the home.I change up for fall/winter to Swampfox 175's STHP.

  • Very interesting. I read this green wax is very tough stuff for bullets and there is considerabley deeper penetration on ballistics gel if given an identical test? As long as the bullet has enough speed and overall penetration, is some fragmentation desirable?

  • @alphazuluz Yep, about the only thing it can't do is pack a good punch in a subsonic loading; you need to go to .45 ACP for that. Too bad you don't have an MP5 in 10mm; I'd love to see what configuration you could get for maximum power factor and still get reliable feeding while providing good controllability. Thanks again for your hard work; keep preaching the 10mm gospel!
