@Dannys998877 Sure it would, nearly anywhere in western europe.

A rhythm of 2.1 children per woman is now the minimum necessary for keeping the species alive. But, what was the number in medieval times in Europe? What the number ain prehistoric times?

@mossfitz Humans reproduced in inverse relationship to their education level, but not their intelligence. These overused statement is just a mascara-ted raciest comment. In many parts of the world children are considered assets, they help out with the work the parents must do to survive. The process of evolution does not concern itself local cultural and political polemics. The process is driven by wider truth that encompasses the whole world, all species, and their entire history.

@falexmendez Evolution is actually well understood by now - of course not completely and finally understood in every detail - but that those who reproduce determine the genetic makeup of the resulting population is hardly open to dispute? i don´t have statistics, but it seems clear to me that the tendency now is for humans to increasingly reproduce in inverse relation to their intelligence. This is something to think about because of humanity´s intellectually attained powers (also destructive)

@mossfitz The workings that brought about human evolution cannot be deterred by its subjects, thus evolution continues. It may not follow a method that everyone can understand but its workings supersede our understanding. Understanding could be considered part of the intelligence brought about by higher intellect, however the path of evolution is other. Through the upheavals of human affairs a new world will be born out of friction with the environment and failure in their societies.

@Paralellolax Evolution is at work today in humans increasingly reproducing in inverse relation to their intelligence. Higher brainpower has long ceased to be a factor in human evolution. The question is whether this will reverse the process that led to higher mental abilities and create a bad ratio of intellectual competence. Research into this is possible but would be politically difficult to push through as well as being expensive and very long-term indeed.

The baby is 37 years old today!!

The nudity in this episode is no doubt innocent and well intentioned, but nevertheless shocking in term of today's sensibilities. This would never be permitted on TV today.
this proves that youtube can go beyond the usual drivel that is posted

I first came accross this series when it was repeated in the mid 80's. I'd been a huge fan of Carl Sagan's 'Cosmos' as well so this was meat and drink for me. Re-watching it now still has the same kick, that of watching a brilliant man conveying ideas in an understandable way. After watching it I can't help but feel cleverer.
